How Much Does Wedding Makeup Cost on the Gold Coast?
It is the first thing most brides want to know and the hardest thing to find out. Plenty of makeup artists will not put a price anywhere, so you end up sending five enquiry forms just to work out whether you can afford any of them.
I would rather tell you up front. Here is what bridal hair and makeup costs on the Gold Coast, what moves the price up or down, and what you actually get for it.
The Short Answer
For one person, makeup starts at $180 Monday to Thursday and $200 Friday to Sunday. Hair and makeup together starts at $230. Most bridal parties pay less per person than that, because the price comes down as the group grows.
So a bride on her own, having hair and makeup, is looking at $230 to $280. A bride with four bridesmaids, all having makeup on a Saturday, is around $160 each. You can see every option on my full price list.
What Changes the Price
How many people are getting ready
Group pricing is per person, and it drops with each extra person. One lady is $200 on a Saturday. Six or more is $140 each. That is why a bridal party often works out cheaper per head than a single booking.
The day of the week
Friday to Sunday is slightly higher than Monday to Thursday. If your wedding is midweek, you pay the lower rate.
Hair as well as makeup
I trained as a hairdresser before I was a makeup artist, so you can book both with me rather than coordinating two people. Hair and makeup together is $230 to $280 per person, and the range depends on how long and how thick your hair is, and how detailed the style is. An up style adds $10 to $20.
Where you are getting ready
I am based at Jacobs Well and I come to you. Travel is charged by distance and I only charge one way, even though I drive there and back. It starts at $10 for anything under 15km. If your venue has paid parking, that is added too. You can check your suburb against the full travel table.
Whether you need a second artist
For larger groups or a very early start, a second artist comes with me so that everybody is ready on time rather than one person working flat out from 4am.
What Is Included
- A full set of lashes, or individual lashes if you prefer them
- A consultation before the day, by phone or email, at no charge
- Long lasting, sweat resistant products chosen for your skin and for a Queensland summer
- All my own kit, lighting and equipment, brought to you
There is no call out fee on top, and no surcharge for an early start.
What About the Trial?
A trial is a separate booking, and I recommend having yours about three months before the wedding. It takes an hour and a half to two hours, and it is where we work out your look properly rather than guessing on the morning.
Is Cheaper Worth It?
You can pay less than this on the Gold Coast, and sometimes that is the right call. What you are paying for with an experienced artist is makeup that still looks right at 11pm, in photographs you will have on the wall for thirty years, and someone who has done hundreds of wedding mornings and will not panic when the schedule slips.
Ask anyone you are considering three things: how long they have been doing weddings, whether lashes and travel are included, and what happens if they are sick on the day.
